Birthday Girl

Mom and Dad were traveling across the country on her birthday, so we decided to have a little fun with her new found love of texting.  We took turns texting her one letter at a time, throughout the day, to spell out Happy Birthday.  It started out with just letters (later changed for this final product) and by "y", it was on!  Half the fun were the texts we were sending each other while this was going on - which we presented her with this collage upon her return home.  (For record keeping purposes, I've included that "converstaion" below - please do not feel obligated to read it!  ;)

…. Meanwhile, Behind the pictures…..

Key:  B=Ben, S=Shelby, L=Laura, M=Monica…. Jason, Stacey, and Tim actually work during the day, so we took care of it.  :)

B:  Are we doing this message thing?
S:  Yes.  Almost home.
B:  I think “happy birthday” will be too obvious….
L:  Let’s do oldest to youngest for simplicity?
S:  Too obvious?
B:   I think “cumpleanos feliz” would be more fun, and quite appropriate considering her location.
S:  I think obvious will be fine.
M:  Perfect.  Shelby u start.  (pause in text)  Well…. That would be feliz cumpleanos.
S: Ok, I’ll start it.  Spread it out at least a half an hour each?
M:  So, what r we doing.  Shelby start. I am next.
S:  Happy Birthday?
B:  Does that mean Monica is going to text a space, or are we skipping that?
S:  Sigh.
B:  And are we sending each letter to the whole group or just directly to mom?
S:  Whole group so we know where we are.
B:  Hey I don’t want to be the one to screw this up because we didn’t clarify all the rules before started.  Right Monica?  Ok.
S:  (Started text with plain H – Mom confused.)  Oh this is going to be fun!  Should I tell her it was a butt text?!
B:  I bet she figures it out by the time we get to the first P
M:  True that Ben.  Btw… we didn’t finish that game because we couldn’t agree.
L:  (after sending next letter a little quickly)  Oops didn’t read all 19 texts before sending.
S:  Lol!  No worries.  I’m headed out to get my tan on!
M: No worries!  Variety is good.  Enjoy the tanning!  (An hour later…)  Ben???  U up with p!!!
B:  Sorry, I’m at work.  (Sends patriotic P)
M:  Well done.
S:  Nice!
M:  Shelby?  U up!
S:  Ok.  Waiting for Cooper to wake up for ours.
B:  What’s the rush?  I thought we were supposed to space it out.
L:  Synchronized lettering Olympics inspired?
(Grace and Cooper Y posted)
B:  Showoff… we don’t all have 2 kids laying around that we can use to pose for our pictures.
S:  Yes, but you have one.  And I is coming up.  Put a ball on his head.
L:  It’s on now  :-p
S:  LOL
M:  Went to bed at two up at 4:30.  About to take a nap we will be ready with our h when we wake up. (Posts B)  Top that one!
B:  Were you driving when you did that???
M:  No Eian was. But can you tell it was a road sign?
B:  I was talking about the sunglasses. I can see the sun visor in the reflection.
M:  Passenger seat.  Eian was driving.
S:  Perfect!
L:  Good idea Shelby he’s not cooperating though.
(I posted)
M: Best one yet!!
S: But of all the letters, I is perfect for him!
B:  Hmmmm, anyone think I can get RRRiley in the shape of an R?
L:  Only with photoshop
**Long break in the letter postings**
B:  Stillll waitin’ on that H
S:  Yes it’s getting late here.
M:  Sorry.  Give me a few.
S:  You can have an exclamation mark too if you want.
L:  Bueller?  Bueller?  Anyone out there?
S:  Hellllloooooo?
B:  It is after 10:00 here.
L: There’s an H

S:  How very artistic.  No pingpong table?  Why up so late?
B:  Wah, would you like some cheese with that whine?
M:  Big live show last night.  Then had to drive the beer truck to Medford by 8 this morning.
B:  Yeah, were you up late arguing about the rules of cornhole?
M:  Yes.  I prefer Gouda or creamy Havarti.  No we gave up on that game.
S:  A?????  (Pause)  You’ve had plenty of time!!

M:  Brilliant Laura!!
(A and Y posted)
S:  Well done everyone.
L: Very cute Shelby
M:  Give us a minute and we will do an exclamation point!
B:  Is that an eastern time zone minute or a west coast minute?
M:  West coast.  Eian just got out of the shower.  How interesting do you want this photo???
B:  I’m ok with boring!

Behind the texts ridiculousness…  But fun.
